Church Leadership Nominations
In the Presbyterian tradition, leadership is a shared calling. Clergy and lay leaders work together to guide the ministry, mission, and life of the congregation, and each year the BMPC Nominating Committee invites members to help identify those who are called to serve.
We encourage you to prayerfully consider individuals whose faith, character, and commitment have equipped them for leadership at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Recommendations are now being accepted for Elders, Deacons, Trustees, and Members-at-Large of the Nominating Committee.
The congregation elects new officers each January to begin three-year terms of service. Officer training prepares all newly elected leaders for their roles and includes Child and Youth Protection training, as well as Pennsylvania criminal background and child abuse clearances.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Nominees should demonstrate a commitment to the life and ministry of BMPC and must:
- Be a BMPC member for at least two years
- Faithfully participate in the worship and program life of the church
- Provide regular financial support to the church
- Be actively involved in at least one ministry area
Please note that individuals may not serve more than six consecutive years on the same board. BMPC employees, their spouses, and their children are not eligible to serve on Session or the Board of Trustees.
Opportunities to Serve
Elders
Elders are ordained to provide spiritual leadership, governance, and discernment for the congregation. They serve on Session, oversee worship, mission, and ministry, celebrate Communion, and help guide the church's vision and direction.
Deacons
Deacons are ordained to a ministry of compassion, care, and service. They support members through visitation, oversee ministries of care, assist with Communion, welcome those arriving through the Helping Hands ministry, and serve at memorial services.
Trustees
Trustees oversee the church's corporate responsibilities, including buildings and grounds, financial assets, insurance, and legal matters, while working under the authority of Session.
Nominating Committee Members-at-Large
Members-at-Large serve alongside representatives from Session, the Board of Deacons, and the Board of Trustees to prayerfully discern and recommend future leaders for the congregation.

Please submit your recommendations to the 2026 Nominating Committee by Sunday, September 20.
