Filling the Well
Sundays beginning April 12

Join our longstanding Sunday morning class for women as we turn to We the Women: The Hidden Heroes Who Shaped America, a powerful collection of short biographies that brings to light the stories of women whose courage and conviction helped shape the United States.
Drawing on extensive research, interviews, and historical sources, Norah O'Donnell introduces us to a wide range of remarkable women—from early figures like Mary Katherine Goddard, who printed the first signed Declaration of Independence, to the Forten family women of Philadelphia, whose leadership in abolition and suffrage movements earned them recognition as “Black Founders.” The book also highlights women who served in the armed forces before they had the right to vote, alongside many others whose contributions have too often gone unrecognized.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, this study offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of a more just and equitable society. Through conversation and shared learning, we will consider how these stories of perseverance and faithfulness continue to shape our understanding of history—and our calling today.
All women are welcome, whether you are a longtime participant or joining for the first time.
The Rev. Rebecca Kirkpatrick leads this class.
