In Our Community

We are committed to following Christ's commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves as we partner with, learn from and support people in need in Philadelphia.

On the occasion of our congregation's 125th anniversary in 1998, BMPC made a 25-year commitment to partner with churches and organizations in West Philadelphia to make our world "a better place" for children and families in our region. To that end, we partner with organizations such as United Community Clinics, The Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia, Habitat for Humanity, Urban Tree Connection, and West Philadelphia Alliance for Children.

We are also committed to long-term partnerships with church and community programs affiliated with the Presbytery of Philadelphia. Our partners include Broad Street Ministry, West Kensington Ministry, Arch Street Preschool, Camp Kirkwood, and Central Presbyterian Church in Norristown. We also established an Urban/Suburban Book Group that includes members of Wynnefield Presbyterian and Overbrook Presbyterian in Philadelphia, and Bryn Mawr Presbyterian. This book group is still going strong after 17 years. To be a part of this group contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

To further extend the above commitments, our Outreach Council accepts grant applications from organizations located in West Philadelphia and/or that are Presbyterian-related.

Examples of ongoing opportunities throughout the year include making casseroles for delivery to soup kitchens, saving box tops and labels to benefit "theVillage," and donating household items to Habitat for Humanity.
