The Rev. Rebecca Kirkpatrick will lead this three-week evening class that explores the legacy of the Rev. Katie Cannon, the first African American woman ordained in the PC(USA) and creator of the discipline of Womanist Theology. In 2022, BMPC named one of our newest adult education classrooms after Dr. Cannon, and this class provides a new opportunity to dig more deeply into generations of scholarship she has inspired. Using a newly published collection of essays by leading black female scholars, we will broaden our understanding of the Christian experience and deepen our appreciation for the legacy Cannon left behind.
