David was ordained in January of 2018 and serves as our Interim Associate Pastor for Youth Ministry. After serving as the Seminary Intern for Youth & Young Adult Ministry at our church since 2015, he has stepped into his new role with passion and excitement.
David grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Rhodhiss, NC when he was fourteen. After hearing God’s call into ordained ministry, he set out to study Bible & Religion and Philosophy & Worldviews at Montreat College. During his sophomore year, he found a new spiritual home at Montreat Presbyterian Church and jumped head-long into church life; founding Montreat College UKirk (campus ministry), serving as an Intern at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC, and as a Student Pastor at Paint Gap Presbyterian Church. In 2014, he was elected to serve as a Young Adult Advisory Delegate (YAAD) to the 221st General Assembly.
While pursuing a Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary, David completed his Clinical Pastoral Education at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He also served churches and non-profit organizations in Princeton, NJ, Trenton, NJ, and Baltimore, MD. After graduating from seminary, David took part in the Global Institute of Theology of the World Communion of Reformed Churches at Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal/Bethel. He is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at Rutgers University.
Youth Ministry has been central to David’s calling since he was a youth leader himself. His commitment to exploring the intersections of LGBTQ identity, ecumenics and social ethics frames his pastoral vision for a faith community where all youth experience the embrace of God’s radical love.
