Upcoming Congregation-Wide Days of Service

  •  Sat., May 12 – 9:00 a.m.

Campus Volunteers

  •  Gardeners: A lawn service cares for the lawn, but BMPC could use some perennial plantings and seasonal color around the grounds. Work in a group to make our campus more beautiful and keep it that way. Commitment: days or evenings; garden tools provided. Contact: Sue Gibbons
  •  Ministries Center Receptionist to serve as our Minister of First Impressions. Assist in greeting visitors, answering phones and giving directions and info. Training provided. Commitment: 2-4 hours once a week, M-F or substitute as needed. Contact: Sue Gibbons

Outreach Council

  •  Tutoring: Assist with our tutoring program that brings together approximately 120 elementary school children from North Philadelphia and an equal number of student from public and independent high schools of the western suburbs. Tutoring takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Contact: BMPC Tutoring

Help Feed the Hungry

  •  Prepare casseroles for homeless shelters. Casserole tins and recipes are available across from Hunger Committee freezers in the Ministry Center. Filled casserole tins can be left in freezers for the Committee to deliver to homeless shelters. Contact: Bob Weber

  •  Casserole Blitz Event: Join us in making nutritious and delicious casseroles for Philadelphia food cupboards. For dates, contact Bob Weber.

  •  Donate canned goods at Sunday worship. Food Baskets are located in the church Narthex and the Chapel entrance to receive donations of canned foods that will be delivered to emergency food cupboards in Philadelphia and Chester. Contact: Bob Weber

  •  Help serve dinners at a West Philadelphia area soup kitchen from 5:45-7:00 p.m. on the following days: Mondays at St. Agatha St James, 38th and Chestnut; Wednesdays, St. Agatha-St. James, 38th and Chestnut; Thursdays, St. Mary’s Church, 3916 Locust Walk; Fridays, Woodland Presbyterian Church, 42nd and Pine Streets.   •  Hunger Envelopes: Your contributions to the white Hunger Envelopes in the pews go directly to for food in emergency food cupboards, homeless shelters, and hunger relief organizations. Please give generously for those who are hungry.

Worldwide Ministries

  •  Interested in getting to know our Mission guests? We are creating a file of interested volunteers to call for the following needs:

         • Host visitors in your home overnight

         • Transport visitors to and/or from the airport

         • Provide a meal for visitors in your home

    To be included on the list of volunteers who may be called when the need arises, contact Carol Schmidt.

  Repair Homes

  •  The Other Carpenter offers home repair aid in Parkside (near Mann Music Center) from 9:00 a.m.-early afternoon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and some Saturdays. Contact: David Heaton, 267-284-0310

 Help Older Adults

  •  Drive older adults to medical and other appointments through our transportation program.

  •  Need a Ride? For rides to medical appointment, call the church office at 610-525-2821.

  •  Visit homebound members of the church.

  •  Need a cane or a wheel chair? Medical equipment is available right here at BMPC for those in need.

 Youth

  •  Teach: We need teachers in our Middle School Sunday School Class and for our Confirmation Class. You do not have to be a Bible Scholar to help out; we just ask that you are willing to learn and grow with our youth!

  •  Be a Youth Advisor: We need regular volunteers to help out with our High School Bible Study on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m., and our Youth Group held once per month on Sundays from 11:15 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

  •  Join a Ministry Team:  We are always looking for volunteers to be involved with the planning of our Thanksgiving Pancake Breakfast, Camp BMPC, Mission Trips, Christmas Eve Alumni Party, and other Youth Department-sponsored events.

 Assist on Sunday morning

  •  Greet and assist members as they depart from vans or cars for the 10:00 a.m. service. Be a "Helping Hand" and a welcoming  presence. Contact: Lorie Benovic

  •  Help us provide a warm welcome by greeting at entrance doors to the Sanctuary before Sunday services. Contact: Donna Barrickman

  •  Bake cookies or help set up and host Sunday coffee hours. Contact: Mary Bassett

  •  Parking Crew: Help direct cars on Sunday mornings in our parking lots. Contact: Mark Hoffman

  •  Book lover? Volunteers needed for The Book Center and The Converse House Library. Contact: Kat MacMurray at 610-935-7582.

 Presbyterian Women   

  •  Presbyterian Children’s Village: Internet Searches and On-line Shopping. If you shop online or do Internet searches, go to www.OneCause.com first. Sign in and go to your preferred merchant or use the toolbar to do your search. The Village will receive a percentage of your purchase.
  •  Campbell’s Labels for Education. Clip the UPC Code or save the CLEAN lid from participating products.  The Village will get points towards a purchase of classroom resources and accessories and so much more. Collection box next to Receptionist desk in Ministries Center. More information

  •  General Mills Box Tops For Education. Clip the 10¢ Box Tops coupons from hundreds of General Mills products and partnering brands, like Cheerios®, Betty Crocker®, Hefty®, Juicy Juice®, Ziploc®, and Kleenex®. Please watch the expiration date. Collection box next to Receptionist desk in Ministries Center.   •  The Ronald McDonald House needs volunteer  to serve meals or play games.

  •  The annual Christmas Angels project provides holiday gifts for infants, children, teens and selected families served by Presbyterian Children’s village. Check the Y-Group portion of the website for updates of projects.

  •  Target Take Charge of Education. Visit www.Target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate the Presbyterian Children’s Village as your designated school. Then use your REDcard whenever you shop at Target and they will give the village a percentage of your purchase. Contact: Betty Wu
