The Richard Shaull Global Mission Award given out annually to fund a noteworthy ministry with programs that are transforming, sustainable, and empowering so that people can help themselves. This award will carry the name of the late Richard Shaull, theologian, Presbyterian missionary, and our former Parish Associate. In 2008 two $20,000 grants to worthy programs received the Richard Shaull award. Pam’s Creche and “Presbyterian Cuba Connection” were the recipients of this awards. Both programs build on the ongoing involvements that BMPC and its members have in areas of South Africa and Cuba. The Richard Shaull award recipients will be chosen the end of April 2010. Pam’s Creche is a mission partner of BMPC Worldwide Ministries. Pam’s mission is to give care to the community’s children in Kliptown by providing a stable environment. Provide a safe island of hope in a community where there is little to go around. The “Presbyterian Cuba Connection” primary goal is to restore a critical facility needed for Christian minister committed to social justice and service in the historic Presbyterian Center of Cardenas, Cuba. Many people look once again to the churches with proven commitment to provide both hope and solidarity. This grant will ultimately help expand the social programs at a critical time when the church can have greater influence in the lives of Cuban citizens.
