About BMPC

The congregation of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church is a large and diverse community of believers from many walks of life and at varied places in their walks of faith.  Yet together in Christ, we claim hope over despair, prefer truth to complacency, and seek to grow in personal faith and compassion for the world.  Through our buildings we hope to both shelter and inspire. In our worship we seek to both sing with the angels and cry with the prophets.  By our education we want to both inform and encourage.  In the world around us we work to display both love and justice.  We find our strength in friendship, fellowship, and faith.  Get to know us by exploring this website, then come and visit to learn more.  We want to be of help to you and yours in your own walk of faith, and we pray God’s strength for you.

Grace and peace,

Wesley D. Avram, PhD, Senior Pastor

 Church Membership:

If you are looking for a church home and wish to join our community of faith, a warm welcome awaits you. We offer pre-requisite membership orientations 3-5 times per year to help you become acquainted with this congregation and its ministries.  Pastors teach the sessions, which include a brief summary of the history of Christianity, the “basics” of the Reformed tradition and the Presbyterian denomination, and the legacy of BMPC.

The usual format is a 4 hour class on a Saturday morning or Sunday evening; a meal is included. Participants then join the church by meeting with Session members as part of one of their regularly scheduled weeknight meetings. They are received in worship the following Sunday, and after a reception in the Court, they are invited to brunch at the pastor’s manse.
