Miraj Medical Center, India
 | Started over 110 years by William Wanless, sent from BMPC as missionary. Maternal and Child Health center and Burn Treatment Center. Major medical facility in area.
Miraj is the oldest benevolence activity of our church. We have supported this medical mission activity for over one hundred years. Not only have we sent funds but also several physicians from our congregation have traveled to Miraj to work.
Miraj Medical center is a large important resource for that section of India, the only fully comprehensive health care entity in a 150 mile radius. The hospital has 550 beds and 93 buildings on a 42 acre campus. Quality, low cost medical care is provided to a population of 10 million persons. In addition, the Center serves as a teaching facility for the state government providing clinical experience in virtually all medical specialties. Training is also provided for nurses, midwives, lab technicians, pharmacists and primary health care trainers. Furthermore, the Center conducts school health clinics, immunization programs, maternal-child health clinics, nutrition/feeding programs and family planning programs.
The services of Miraj Medical Center are provided irrespective of race, caste, creed, or ability to pay. The Center is affiliated with the Church of North India. It is also supported in part by PC (USA).
