BMPC Liaison:
Carl Giombetti
Mission:
Miraj Medical Center was founded over 110 years ago by William
Wanless who was sent from BMPC as a missionary and remains BMPC’s
longest standing partner in mission. BMPC has supported medical
mission at Miraj both financially and with volunteer physicians and
medical consultants for over one hundred years. Miraj Medical Center
is the only fully comprehensive health care entity within a 150 mile
radius and thus serves an important role for the community in which
it is based. The hospital has grown to house 550 beds and 93
buildings on a 42 acre campus. Services are provided irrespective of
race, caste, creed, or ability to pay. Miraj Medical center is
affiliated with the Church of North India and is supported in part
by the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Volunteer
Opportunities:
Short-term specialists from abroad can be of great assistance.
Your role as a volunteer would primarily be that of working with a
counterpart on the Miraj staff, sharing new techniques and insights.
This helps to strengthen the capabilities of the individuals or
departments with whom you will work. In turn you would learn much
about the challenges of health care in a developing country and
about the people and culture of India.
