Mission:
The mission of JCSTS is to serve God revealed in the life,
death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The seminary’s particular
calling is to prepare African American leaders for service in the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The seminary’s origins can be traced
to 1867, as part of Freedmen’s College of North Carolina and later
as part of the Biddle Memorial Institute in Charlotte, NC. It is the
only historically African-American seminary of the ten theological
institutions of the PC (USA).
