Latin America
BMPC Liaison:

Mission:
UBL was founded in 1923 as a school for biblical training for young
women in San Jose, Costa Rica by Susan Strachan, an Irish Anglican
missionary. By 1930 the school was co-ed and the 40 students were
from eleven countries. Today, it is the hub of a network of
affiliated institutions which train leaders from Latin America to
serve the Church. UBL offers diversified theological education which
has gained the attention of theological educators around the world
and is being adopted by a growing number of seminaries.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Whether individually or in groups, the UBL welcomes volunteers.
Volunteers may work for as little as a few days or for as long as
they like. Housing is provided on a space-available basis in the
student residence hall. For those who want more space and privacy,
inexpensive rental apartments are available.
