Mission:
The mission of AMERC is to promote contextual, cross-cultural education for theological students, faculties, and other Christian leaders. The faculty, mentors and students live out the mission in the theological, spiritual, social, economic, esthetic, and ecological world of Appalachia. AMERC was created in 1985 by broadly ecumenical consortia of theological seminaries and organizations, now numbering some 27 members.

Volunteer Opportunities:
AMERC offers a number of classes on the Appalachian experience. There are Seminary Immersion Courses: Faith, Health, and Economics: An Appalachian Experience; Fierce Landscapes: Listening to the People of Appalachia; Christ, Culture and Mission in Appalachia; Mouontain Stories: Care for Self and Community; Religion and Arts of Appalachia as well as Continuing Education courses: Walking Our Spiritual Path: Reflections on the Spirituality of the Cherokee People.
