West Philadelphia PartnershipAs part of the 125th anniversary celebration of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in 1998, the congregation expressed a desire to build upon the church’s long-standing commitment to urban ministry by undertaking a journey of faith, in all aspects of its life, with the peoples and churches of West Philadelphia. This long term commitment was made with and has been guided by a hope and expectation that such a ministry will lead all involved to a better place. The Outreach Council supports this church-wide commitment to West Philadelphia through benevolences, cooperative efforts, and volunteer support to churches, ministries and social programs in this community. As a part of this commitment, we engage in joint efforts with African-American Presbyterian Churches in West Philadelphia (Calvin, First African, Lombard Central, Reeve and Wynnefield). Through these programs people from BMPC and from West Philadelphia share in volunteer work, in music and the arts, and in worship and prayer.
