Richard E. Miller

Executive Pastor, Richard Miller, joined our staff in January, 2002. In this newly created position, he assumed responsibility for administrative oversight of the on-going work of the congregation, under the direction of the Senior Pastor. Richard supervises ordained staff, program staff persons, and the Business Administrator. He helps determine both personal and corporate goals for their ministries as well as provide pastoral care and support to all the church staff. Richard is the primary staff person to the Stewardship Committee, the General Services Council, the Communion Committee, and Family Ministries. He also assists as a staff resource to the Trustees, the Personnel Committee, and the Deacons.

Richard is a 1981 graduate of Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, with a B.A. in Pre-Ministry. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1985. Richard has served three other pastorates. In 1985, he joined the staff of Northwoods Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas, where he served as an associate pastor to youth and college age students and their families. In 1990, Richard became the solo pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Renton, Washington.  Three years after Richard’s arrival, the congregation had grown from 125 to more than 400 with a focus on education and worship. Richard was then called in 1996 to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, a large suburban church, where he served as an associate pastor for administration and education.

In considering his ministry at BMPC, Richard says, "I depend upon the gifts of the community to which God has called me to serve. Gifts are given to individuals by God, so that each might fulfill the vision God has given to the church, wherever that church might be. When these gifts are discovered, and then shared, we enter into living out God’s vision for our community and doing God’s will."

Richard has been married to his wife Juleann for 23 years. They are the proud parents of nine-year-old Jordan and four-year-old Carly. Juleann is a registered nurse who currently is working on her doctorate in nursing.
