Presbyterian Women

All women of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church are members of Presbyterian Women (PW) and are encouraged to participate in PW’s many and varied activities.

PW at BMPC is a mix of different interest groups, which meet, study, pray, and explore multiple ideas in small settings. Attendance ranges from 10-60 and the programs are varied. PW has something to offer everyone. It is not necessary to "join" or commit to any one group. Everyone is invited to participate in any program that interests her.  Several times a year all women gather together for luncheons, programs, and other activities.  Most groups meet monthly, September - May.

Childcare is available for all PW events on the BMPC campus.  Call Megan Forgie at least three days in advance at 610-525-2821 x 7301.

Transportation to PW events is available with advance notice.  If you would like a ride to a PW event, call Cindy Pierce, 610-964-1527.

The national Presbyterian’s Women’s purpose statement is:

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:

·        to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study

·        to support the mission of the church worldwide

·        to work for justice and peace

·        to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Our PW interest groups are:

Young Women’s "Y" Group – an interest group for women with elementary age or younger children, focusing on family and faith.  “Y” Group meets the second Tues. of the month from 9:15-11:00 am.  In addition, this group does service projects, hosts social gatherings, and has a monthly book club (meets the third Tuesday evening of the month)  For more information click on the heading above, contact Laura Getty at 610-853-1079 or e-mail lgetty@comcast.net

Dimensions in Literature - a group for book lovers of all ages and interests.  The book selections are very diverse, from ancient to modern classics, new best sellers, biographies, histories, and more.  We welcome book suggestions from members.  At each meeting, an expert leader provides a perspective, and then guides an invariably lively audience discussion on the book selection.

This group meets eight (8) times a year on the third Tuesday of the month in the Witherspoon Parlor.  Enjoy coffee and conversation from 9:30-10:00 am; the discussion follows from 10:00-11:00 am.  Join this group for all or some of these meetings.  They provide a wonderful opportunity for dialogue and fellowship.  For a list a current books and discussion click on the heading above.  For more information contact Miriam Vosburgh at 610-525-8368 or e-mail Miriam.Vosburgh@comcast.net
