" ...and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8 Upon Dr. Bay’s retirement as BMPC Pastor/Head of Staff (2004), the Session established a fund to honor, in an ongoing way, Gene Bay’s ministry and commitment to urban ministry. The Fund supports projects and programs that enhance the lives of residents of urban areas of Philadelphia, with a preference for West Philadelphia and the community of Chester.
The Fund made its first awards in
2006, with two additional cycle awards in 2008 and 2010. The next award cycle
has begun and applications are due on or before January 31, 2012.

Rev. Sherri Hausser. The Eugene C. Bay Fund for Urban Ministry is a charitable fund that is administered by Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and that makes grants to qualifying tax-exempt organizations. The Fund is particularly interested in programs that are “faith based” in the broadest sense. A project or programs, however, need not be connected to a religious institution.
The Eugene C. Bay Fund will not make grants for scholarships, endowments or capital improvements. The Fund made its first awards in 2006. Recipients are required to provide interim and final narrative reporting and financial accounting of funds awarded. Grants are made every two years. The next grant will be awarded in 2012.
The Fund does not accept unsolicited proposals, but is very interested in receiving brief (two-page maximum) descriptions of organizations or projects that seek support. A fresh, balanced meal is served in their Cathedral Dining Room in a fashion that emphasizes dignity, hospitality and attention to both the body and the spirit.
