Church School

We enter into a covenant with parents to assist them in the Christian upbringing of their children. It is our hope and our joy to serve them, inspire them, teach them and love them!

Historically, as Presbyterians, we are committed to education. Church School classes are provided on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. as part of a ministry that is:

  • Biblically grounded

  • Historically informed

  • Communally nurtured

  • Socially engaged

  • Ecumenically involved

While our program varies according to age group, each graded class has a curriculum that is enriched by worship, study of the Bible and theology, and music and visual arts. Great care is taken to see that each program is specifically designed to address the spiritual needs of children at their appropriate developmental stage, and to lay a foundation in terms of both cognitive learning and the formation of a faith community.

As a service to parents staying for both worship and educational opportunities, "Art at 11" (fun and crafts for ages 3 and up, Education Building, Room 201) and "Mildly Wild" (active games for 1st - 5th, Gym) is offered on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until noon. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers on Sundays from:

  • 7:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. during the school year
  • from 7:45-11:15 a.m. during the summer.

Special events and programs include:

  • Bible Story Books for 1st graders

  • Bibles for 3rd graders

  • Children-in-Worship (children from 1st - 5th grade sit with their families or peers 1st Sunday of each month, October - June, and other designated Sundays; Refer to calendar)

  • Casserole preparation for the hungry

  • Mission focus

  • Special Children's Chapel services with children participating

  • Education on stewardship of time, talent, and resources

Note: from mid-June through Labor Day, church school classes are at 10:00 a.m., and are less formal and structured than during the academic year.
